ASSESSMENTS
In May of 2011 the City of Harrison partnered with AmeriCorp VISTA and NAPHE to conduct a walkability assessment of six neighborhoods. Then, in October of 2011, the City partnered with Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention (ArCOP) to host a Walkability Workshop led by Dan Burden of the WalkLive Instititue. This workshop produced an in depth assessment of the downtown area. Each walkability audit resulted in a detailed report with specific recommendations. Improvements since this assessment phase include a Safe Routes to School program, new sidewalks with greenspace, crosswalks and trail additions. The City has developed their workplan around the results of these assessments. Each of these assessments are available for your review at the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education (NAPHE) Community Health Resource Center located on the first floor of at North Arkansas College’s Center Campus.
