ABOUT US

The City of Harrison, Arkansas has been a leader in building community partnerships in the northwest region of Arkansas for more than 15 years.  Working closely with North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education (NAPHE) and Boone County Hometown Health Improvement Coalition (the premier Hometown Health Project in the state of Arkansas, the City has set the pace across the state for several policy and infrastructure changes to benefit the health of the community.  To specifically address the need for access to physical activity opportunities, the City formed the Mayor’s Council on Trails.  This partnership, made up of a diverse group of community leaders and health and education organizations has developed a connected trail plan, partnered with the local schools to engage youth in planning for healthy infrastructure and to develop a Safe Routes to School project.  Additionally, the City works closely with the Harrison Central Organization for Revitalization and Enhancement (CORE) and the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension make strategic improvements to the built environment and encourage active lifestyles among local residents and visitors.
